Mercy Meals of Siouxland is a ministry of Faith Lutheran Church, Sioux City Iowa. Mercy Meals of Siouxland utilizes volunteers ages 11 and up to package and donate fortified Rice/Soy meals (Mercy Meals) for hungry and starving children throughout the world. Mercy Meals are scientifically designed for malnourished children. Orphanages, refugee camps, feeding centers and disaster relief centers are some of the recipients of the meals.
Mercy Meals of Siouxland operates solely on donations and an occasional grant, so please consider a donation to ensure the continuation of packaging meals. Donations can be mailed to Mercy Meals of Siouxland, Faith Lutheran Church, 3101 Hamilton Boulevard, Sioux City, Iowa 51104.
Mercy Meals Has Reached 20 + Countries: Haiti, Philippines, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, India, Uganda, Greece, Kenya, Liberia, Zambia, Costa Rica, Romania, Republic of Georgia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, South Africa, Swaziland, Nicaragua, Mexico, Guatemala, Malawi, Togo, Ghana, Panama, Navajo Indian Reservations, Local Food Pantries, & Disaster Relief Centers
We donate all of the packaged meals to Orphan Grain Train in Norfolk, Nebraska. Orphan Grain Train delivers the packaged meals to children in areas of most need in the United States and around the world at their cost. Meals are delivered at the point of destination by a Christian organization allowing the children hear about Jesus as well as receiving food.
· We do not charge volunteer packagers a fee to package meals.
· Donations are strongly encouraged, but not required.
· Meals currently cost about 14 cents each to package.
· Meals are packaged 6 meals to a bag in an assembly line process using 9-12 volunteers for each packaging line
· We package in the Parish Hall at Faith Lutheran Church, Sioux City, Iowa.
· Regular events are held on one Saturday each month.
· Special packaging events can be arranged if regular packaging events do not work for your group.
· Packaging events begin with a short orientation followed by packaging of meals for about one and one-half hours.
